New HOPE
Exciting news to the community, supporters, donors and volunteers of Haven on the Queensway
Dear Friends,
We’re reaching out to share some exciting updates about Haven on the Queensway. As you may know, we have been working hard to find a larger facility that can meet the growing needs of our community while remaining accessible to our clients. We’re happy to announce that we have secured a larger building that will enable us to expand our services and better accommodate the increasing demand. However, this transition comes with a major challenge.
Our goal is to be ready to serve our clients by April 2025. To meet this target date the building requires extensive renovations, repairs, and construction supplies, with an estimated cost of $250,000. Therefore, we have set our deadline to complete the work by March 2025.
We are reaching out to kind-hearted supporters like you for support to help reduce costs and make this transformation possible. Your financial contribution will help us cover moving costs, and critical renovation expenses such as roof repairs, plumbing and electrical updates, and accessibility improvements.
Here’s how you can make a difference:
Financial Support
Funds can help us cover major renovation costs, such as roof repairs, electrical and plumbing updates, and accessibility improvements.
Pro Bono Service
If you or someone you know can contribute skilled labour—construction, painting, electrical, or plumbing—your expertise would be invaluable
In-Kind Donation
Building materials, supplies, appliances, and furniture, to outfit the space
Item Donation
Items like commercial kitchen equipment, shelving, or storage units will help us create a functional and efficient space.
Every contribution, big or small, brings us closer to our goal of creating a new home for Haven.
Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow has declared a state of emergency for food insecurity—a stark reminder of the critical work still ahead. Each week, we continue to serve over 1,600 individuals, by providing essential resources through programs such as our Food Bank, Haven’s Closet, First Care for new parents, Hope with Wheels, feeding our friends living on the streets and Haven Helping Seniors support and this number is only growing. Together, we can ensure that no one in our community is left without support, dignity, and hope.
If you’re able to help or know others who might be interested, please do not hesitate to contact Aretha, Director of Operations directly at aretha@havenontheq.com or (416) 995-8041.
We would be happy to provide more details or discuss how you can get involved. Thank you for considering this opportunity to be part of Haven’s next chapter. Together, HOPE starts here!
